Field CTO, Public Sector

GitLab is an AI-forward DevSecOps platform used by millions and trusted across the Fortune 100. The Field CTO, Public Sector will serve as a technical advisor to public sector customers and prospects, connecting DevSecOps strategy, security, compliance, and AI policy to mission outcomes while partnering with sales, marketing, and product teams to inform strategy and field enablement.

Skills

  • Deep expertise in DevSecOps practices and tooling
  • Experience with security, cybersecurity, and compliance solutions or assessments
  • Knowledge of cloud computing and modern CI/CD/SDLC practices
  • Experience engaging and selling to public sector organizations
  • Strong executive-level presentation and written communication skills
  • Experience in technical pre-sales or customer-facing technical advisory roles
  • Familiarity with AI and AI policy considerations in government contexts

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical consulting and strategic guidance to public sector customers during pre-sales engagements
  • Deliver executive-level thought leadership on DevSecOps, security, compliance, and AI policy for strategic opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships with C-level and senior technical leaders (CISO, CSO, CTO, chief security architects)
  • Partner with marketing to create public sector-focused content and support media engagements
  • Educate multi-level customer stakeholders on GitLab platform capabilities to enable successful adoption
  • Respond to RFI/RFP content and participate in government publication and standards working groups
  • Capture and communicate field feedback to product, marketing, and sales; contribute to playbooks and reusable technical content

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent professional experience in lieu of formal degree accepted
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, cloud certs) are a plus
