Director of Sales – Commercial Space

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Sales – Commercial Space in the United States.

This is a high-impact sales leadership role focused on driving commercial growth in the US space sector. You will lead revenue generation, market expansion, and customer engagement for advanced space services, working at the intersection of sales, strategy, and product. The role combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, particularly in early-stage and fast-evolving markets. You will own pipeline development, forecasting, and go-to-market execution, while providing market insights to shape product and service offerings. Strong collaboration with engineering, product, and marketing teams is essential to ensure offerings meet market needs. Success in this position directly impacts the growth of commercial space operations and establishes key relationships across government and industry sectors.


Accountabilities:
  • Lead US commercial sales efforts across both government and commercial space markets, scaling revenue and market presence
  • Own pipeline development, forecasting, and execution of commercial transactions
  • Develop and implement go-to-market strategies, positioning, and service offerings
  • Provide actionable market feedback to product and engineering teams to inform roadmap and feature development
  • Act as the voice of the customer, translating client needs into business and product strategies
  • Build and manage key customer and partner relationships, including proposal development, RFP responses, and bid/no-bid decisions
  • Monitor market trends, emerging opportunities, and competitive landscape to guide strategic decisions
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and customer engagements (~40% travel)

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of sales or commercial leadership experience within space, aerospace, or related technology sectors
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) a plus
  • Proven track record of building and scaling commercial organizations and launching new products/services
  • Experience selling into both government and commercial space markets
  • Strong understanding of space systems, including small satellites and RF/optical communications
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and marketing
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous, early-stage environments
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to translate technical concepts into clear business value
