Director, Business Development- Data & AI

Velir is a remote-first, mid-sized agency that acquired Brooklyn Data Company to expand its Data & AI consulting capabilities. We are seeking a strategic, quota-driven Director of Business Development to hunt new logos, co-sell with technology partners, and drive full-cycle enterprise sales for data, analytics, and AI solutions.

Skills

  • 10+ years in a hunter sales role within data, AI, software or SaaS
  • Documented track record of exceeding quotas and winning new logos in mid-market and enterprise
  • High data literacy with the ability to discuss data modeling, cloud warehouses, and AI use cases
  • Experience selling with value-based frameworks (e.g., MEDDPICC, Challenger)
  • Executive presence to influence C-level and VP stakeholders
  • Active participation in the modern data community (events, LinkedIn, meetups)
  • Self-starter mentality and strong outbound/social selling skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%

Responsibilities

  • Outbound prospecting and direct hunting to identify and penetrate new accounts
  • Co-sell with key technology partners (Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, Domo, Sigma and others)
  • Own full sales cycle from cold outreach and qualification through contract negotiation and close
  • Build and execute territory/vertical go-to-market plans to grow market share
  • Position modern data architectures, AI/ML strategies, and analytics at executive and technical levels
  • Maintain a clean, predictable pipeline and consistently hit revenue targets
  • Engage with the data and AI community to build brand authority and network
  • Travel up to 25% for client and partner meetings

Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent professional experience
  • Relevant business, technical, or sales training is a plus
